Charity of the Month March 2014 – The Partnership For A Healthier America

EatSmart fans will continue to select each Charity of the Month in 2014. Fans will submit short stories about the charity’s mission and why it’s meaningful to them. We began our Charity of the Month donations in 2011.

This month’s charity of the month has been chosen by Joseph Origoni, the Marketing Director for EatSmart Products. charity march 3

Being that March is National Nutrition Month I decided to choose a charity that helps others, especially children, live a more nutritious and healthier lifestyle. The Partnership For A Healthier America (PHA)was founded in 2010 in conjunction with – but independent from – Let’s Move!, PHA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit that is led by some of the nation’s most respected health and childhood obesity advocates. Supporting our effort is our honorary chair First Lady Michelle Obama, alongside our honorary vice-chairmen The Honorable William H. Frist, MD, and US Senator Cory A. Booker (D-NJ). The Partnership For A Better America (PHA) is devoted to making the health of our nation’s youth by solving the childhood obesity problem.

I chose this charity for a few simple reasons. One, it ties in well with National Nutrition Month. We all should be living a healthy lifestyle but often our hectic schedules and demanding jobs can affect a well balanced diet. Also, it’s important we show our children how to be healthy, mentally and physically. America relies on people to make everything work so cohesively, whether it’s a school teacher, military officer, doctor, and even parents. Helping children grow into healthy young adults will help solve youth obesity and promote a healthier nation in the future.

We will be donating 50 cents for every new Facebook follower during the month of March. (So spread the word!)
